Frequently Asked Questions
-
I provide relationship therapy for individuals only at this time. While we’re working together and you decide you’d also like to pursue relationship or family therapy, I will be happy to provide referrals.
-
Homework, or lifework as I sometimes call it, will be collaborative and individualized to your unique needs. I don’t normally “give” homework, rather it is an effort of suggestions and plans that we make together to help support your therapy goals outside of session.
-
Unfortunately, no. I am licensed in MA and NC, so you have to be physically located in either of those states when we hold the session.
I’d love to provide you with some referrals for clinicians in your state who do similar work if I’m connected with them.

All sessions are virtual.

In our first session we will take the time to get to know each other and the therapy space as well as discuss what brought you to therapy and your goals.

I know you really want to have a specific answer, but it is truly determinant upon many factors including your presenting issue and your goals. For some, they may come to a pause after only a few sessions and for others it may be a part of a much longer time frame. Further, relationships, finances, time, privacy and other factors can influence how long you’re accessing therapy. I’d be happy to speak with you about any factors that influence your access to therapy to try to come up with a rough game plan.

Generally, as people are getting started in therapy with me, we meet weekly or bi-weekly. I would likely suggest no less frequently than bi-weekly at first. Monthly or “as needed” sessions are also options based on goals and progress.
The sessions are 50 min. or 80 min. in length. Because the work that we are looking to do is deeply emotional, I typically might suggest longer sessions (80 min.) even if we meet less frequently. This allows us to “really open and flip through the book a bit before closing it” so to speak. When we meet we can discuss if this is a good option for you.
